Money bloody money

I know this is a shock, 2 posts.... in the same month..

As I said in my last post, we have just brought a new sofa and microwave. Well, not long after I finished that post, the main support bar that runs down the middle of the bed broke (remember waking up the neighbours trying to fix the last one Craig?). So have now ordered a new bed to. We have 2 to 3 weeks of sleeping on the mattress on the floor. I think that if anything else breaks, we are just going to have to move house and start again...

Saturdays trip to Sheffield was not all together great. Lost 1-0 to Southampton so the drive home was long. Try to arrange the next trip up and I can hope that we can put this defeat down to the team still getting to know each other.. On a good note, Sheffield United lost..

Back to sunny old England (No really, it is sunny)

As you may have guessed, we have just returned from holiday.. Got back at about 2am on Wednesday morning thanks to Dr Reds Dad.. Thanks for sorting that out Red.. Would also like to wish Mr Grumpy a happy belated birthday.. Hope you had a nice time and sorry we missed it.. Hope our present found you well..

This holiday has costed me quite a bit of cash I can tell you.. Of course there is the normal kind of charges when you are on holiday, you eat out more, you drink more, etc... The problem this year happened after we got home.. Let me explain..

When we brought out flat 2 years ago (this month), we did not have much spare cash flying around so we brought the cheapest sofas that we could find which happened to be from Argos. A great BOGOF offer so we had 2 two seater sofas for about £150.. Bargainn..

Anyway, the very first thing we noticed when we got to ourapartmentt in Los Montesinos in Spain, was the fact that the sofa was nice to sit on and did not feel like it was going to give away at any second..(hold the weight jokes please :-)) So one of the first things we did when we got home was to go out and buy us a new sofa.... And then of course, that meant new custions.. Even more money.. To top it off, Sian's parents come to stay while we were away to give our kitchen a makeover.. (looks great and we love you for it) but that was more money and when we were out today, we also managed to come home with a new microwave.... so we have spent something like £900 since we got home.....

Lets leave that one alone for the moment... Wednesday have not had a bad start to the season with 2 draws and Dave, Sian and myself are off to Sheffield tomorrow to see them play Southampton. Early start so we can pop in and see my Grandma first, and no doubt there will be other family memberpoppingng in as they have heard that we are coming up..

Last day of rest on Sunday and then its back to work after a full 13 working days off.. Going to be hell as well as I now have collages out of the office for the next 2 weeks so will be on my own but then again, I love a good challenge..

As you can see from the comments to my last post, there is a general feeling that I don't blog to much at the moment... I will try and change this, but I am not making any promiseses..

Got to go
Long day tomorrow

Does anyone still read this??

The title is a real question.. Can you leave a comment if you are reading this......

Not long been home after working today, I know its a Saturday but I don't mind if Sians working and I am getting paid time and a half.. And its not as if the work was hard either. Migration of 22 desktops on W2K to T41s running XP, easy money.
I am starting to wind down now as we fly out to Spain at 11am in Wednesday. Now this could be a bad thing as I have so much to do work wise before I leave but I know when it comes to it on Monday morning its going to be, "Fuck it, its holiday time"
New job is going well and am now taking over more and more projects. I am not the god in sole charge of backups (wooooo I hear you say)
Have been having a look at some of the groups blogs to see, well, nothing really.. It seams that everyone has been just as busy as me over the past month.
Just noticed that my link to Phuts blog is a little out of date so I will update that soon (sorry Phut). Is that your car in your last post?
Welcome back Dr Red and thanks in advance for being airport taxi..

Got to run, need to start packing

Happy Birthday Mum

I know, I know.. Its been over a month since I last posted but I have been run off my feet..

Started my new job on the 20th June but spent the whole of the first week on a course.. Planning and maintaining a Windows 2003 Server environment (network design, what a way to start) and I had so much info thrown at me in the second week, that I had brain ake. Atleast I have swapped changing toner for changing backup tapes.

I would touch on all of this crap that happened on London last week but you all know the score there and I dont think I have anything new to add.

The title is ture, it is my Mums birthday so Happy Birthday Mum (like she reads this). Only 15 days till holiday .. 13 stright working days off... Come on, can not wait. Off to Spain with Sian and my family

More to follow..

We are going up, say we are going up

If you don't want to read about Sheffield Wednesdays big day yesterday, skip to PART B

Been what seams like ever since I last updated my Blog...
As my last blog was about Wednesday, lets start there. We reached the playoff final and Sian and we set off on our way to Wales on Saturday night to stay over with her parents (knew there was a good reason they moved to Wales). Up bright and early on Sunday morning and dropped off at Port Talbort Parkway train station by Pete (Sians Dad), thanks for that Pete. From there, was just 2 stops till we got to Cardiff, a 30 minutes trip from station to station. Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw next. We walked out of the station and could not see anything apart from a sea of Blue and White. There must have been 15,000 of our fans right in front of us. was about 12.15 and we took a short walk aboud the outside of the stadium before joining the queue at gate 6. We had about 30 minutes to queue before they let us in but we were near the front of the queue so it was not to bad and this is where this photo was taken.. Smile Sian...

So we get in to the ground with no problems and are in our seats by 13.10, giving us plenty of time for Sian to find the loos and a pint and for me to read the programme.. Go through all of the pre-match singing and crap on the pitch and then have the biggest emotional roller coaster that I have ever had over the next 120 minutes. We took the lead just before half time and the stadium (well, just over 40,000 of the 60,000 that were in there) went mental.. Made half time and very happy time.. Second half was not so good.. They came back at us and made it 2-1 to them.. 82ed minute, we get a penalty and they had a man sent off.. 2-2 and we are heading for extra time and I am so praying that this does not go to penalties. 4 minutes in to extra time and we are 3-2 up and my heart is racing.. We had a couple of heart in mouth moments but then we rapped it up in the last minute of extra time and the game finishes 4-2.. and the chants of WE ARE GOING UP, SAY WE ARE GOING UP, ringing round the stadium and then it sinks in that we have been promoted.. Back to Sians parents after the game for a nice Sunday dinner which was really nice and then the drive back home.. What a day. Heres to next season and playing in the Championship.

PART B

Apart from football, what else has been going on? Got my promotion at work. I am now a network and systems specialist so no more dealing with dump arse end users (wwwhhoooooo) and no more shift work which is another bonus, a payrise and loads more training so its all good. Have got another trip to Spain coming up in the middle of June followed but my next Microsoft Exam, Managing and Maintaining a MS Windows 2003 Server Environment and that us followed by another Microsoft course, can not remember which one but thats another week out of the office so have got a busy couple of weeks coming up again.. Can not wait till its holiday time (27th July) which is in Spain again, think I might have spent more time over there then at home this year (lol).

Also looking at changing the car again. Seat are bring out a new shape Leon and I want to have a new one before that change the shape. I have a 1.6 SX at the moment and want to change for the 1.8T FR.. Check it out.. Seat Leon's Home Page

On that note, I think thats quite enough for one post.. Promise I will try and keep this up. Watch this space.
